Empaths are very keen to picking up the feelings of others and taking them on as their own. It can be a gift but as well be quite a burden. It is something that can be managed and is very much connected to psychic abilities. It is more that they know the others inner feelingsand it isnot tied into telepathy. They can even take on the feelings of pain if they are in contact with someone who is ill. This is probably the biggest downside of the condition. Sex would not really be a big issue but I suppose that if they can take on the feelings of others , it may be twice as nice for them. Empaths , from an early age , be withdrawn and not always feel like they are normal. They may feel like they are different from others and be withdrawn. At some point they usually come to terms with their abilities and be able to focus their ability and then be more content or at peace with it . Some chose to use it to help others and some just accept it for what it is and live a normal life. Empaths can have friends and live normal lives and are usually very wise people. Take care.

Empathic people are not the psychics of Star Trek.They are people who are sensitive to others' feelings and receive and process information based on another person's voice, mannerisms, and context.

Women are good at being empathic since they have to deal with men and children who do not vocalize their needs, wants, and desires adequately.

A typical empath listens and observes.

People love to have empathic friends if they can stand the truth.After a while only the truth works.I know an empathic woman who lost a friend of many years because of the person's gambling and spending problems.The empath tried to nudge the person to self-revelation but when it became obvious that the empath didn't endorse the gambling or respect it, the 20-year relationship failed abruptly.People like to have empaths as friends as long as it solves their problems and gives them someone to talk to; when it becomes obvious that they have to change, it can fail as a friendship.

I met an empathic woman on the job.She did intake interviews for people with legal complaints.I observed that she put a big sign at her cubicle that she was busy so she could concentrate on the paperwork following the interview.She had to keep her focus and stop coworkers from imposing.She was magnificent in how she handled people.

I had a college teacher who lost her contract because she was too good with the students.Whatever difficult class she got stuck with, filled with grateful students or their referrals.She made the other members of the department look bad.The chairperson got rid of her when the university got a new president.The chair had to leave a year later.I wrote a really well written letter to the new president that I had reviewed by several people complaining about the that firing as well as other problems left by the former administration.I knew I couldn't get her job back, but I could take revenge on her behalf.I received a call as well as other students and coworkers do a "poll" about our experiences at the college.I can't say exactly what I got from that teacher, but I certainly felt that I owed her.

YOu should probably understand what "empathy" is. That would help you answer your questions very well.

Most everyone can have empathy. Some are more sensitive to it than others. In books and science fiction, it's considered a psychic ability. I don't see it that way. I think it's like a lot of things. Some people are more sensitive to things than others…this can be anything from emotions to temperature to food!

If someone could read another's mind..they wouldn't be an empath. They would be psychic.

I doubt being male or female makes a difference though I have found that women "feel" more than men. It might be a generational thing…the way men were raised or something.

Someone who is sensitive to others feelings would act like anyone else. What do you expect? That they would have a halo or a constant musical soundtrack when they walk or something?

I don't know why someone wouldn't want to be around others due to their sensitivities…whatever they are. However, there are some that are too sensitive..and may get overly emotional. I would expect that could be a challenge in a relationship,just like anything else.

in the traditional sense of the word.

Often an empath can pick up a person's feelings…
but not necessarily their thoughts.

Sex? meaning gender…not necessarily.
Women are thought to be more empathic mainly
because of their gentle, nurturingnatures.

Most empaths tend to be introverted,
and prefer their own company.
They usually do this to tryto shield
themselves from the chaotic energy of other people.

People who are empaths tend to be selective in their friendships,
as a means of protecting themselves from an overflow of energy
from other individuals.

Empaths are a more spiritual type of psychic, usually only feeling but you tend to sort of predict things due to the fact that you feel the way things go via, i guess its called an aura
Sex effects some, depending on like what type of sex, like its better to make love than to screw
Empaths act different cuz theres like four general types
as far as friends, empaths have oversensative and dramatic tendincies when they can't control themselves adequately but, over the years empaths tend to gain a wisdom and maturity beyond thier years of the Emotional climates are right

Mountains. Alaska? Frontier. You were a lumber jack prospector. You dug for gold in the mines near Anchorage. You found some loot, not much though. Life was hard, brutish and short. You fought against many enemies — claim jumpers and generally shady-bad men. You died in your forties — diptheria or diarhrea. Health care wasn't much back then, and away from civilization. Your wife could have been Russian. You had three kids. The family survives to this day, many strong.
