Would you consider this a sin if I tried this?
Allie Stomo Asked: Would you consider this a sin if I tried this?
You have to admit that there are people in the world who are extremely intuitive. (eg. Psych Twins Linda and Terry) I'm not claiming to be psychic or anything but I do have this ability to read people (their body language, their mood, and other simple things). Most of the time I am right. Anyways, as a career I'm thinking of becoming a clinical psychologist. I really wanted to buy/read the Psychic Twin's book: Psychic Intelligence. I don't want to be a healer or anything or tell people's futures. I just want to heighten my intuition a little. This has nothing to do with my question but is it also a sin to believe in past lives? Thanks! – Allie.

Why would it be a sin to be a psychologist? I don't think it is. I think those that have a genuine ability to do this have been given a gift by God, and they should try and use it in His service, to help those in need. One should not be a miser and try to dupe people and earn loads of money for one's own sense gratification; rather, try and help people with this amazing gift you have.
As for heightening your intuition or being a psychic, why would that be a sin? Of course not! You are using your human intelligence to seek out knowledge. I don't see why God would decry that; at least, not the true God, who is love personified.
If you can truly see the future, that is God's gift, and it is just fine to use that gift of course.
I don't think it is a sin to believe in past lives. Why would it be? I believe that each of us is a soul, a highly spiritual, infinitesimal being that is connected with God. This soul travels from body to body according to our karma. Therefore we have had many bodies before this one, as animals, maybe as humans, as amoebas, etc. To be in a human body is a sign of good karma, and with the human intelligence, we should seek out knowledge. therefore, good job! You are doing the right thing, using your human intelligence to seek out knowledge, rather than being an animal (focusing on only eating, sleeping, mating, and defending).
True knowledge is knowledge of God. If you try to be spiritual and direct your love towards God, I think you will reap many benefits in this human life, more than anything you've gotten in any of your past lives (which of course you don't remember. But that does not mean they didn't happen!).
Best of luck on your search and on obtaining your goals. Hare Krishna!
1) Psychology is a learned skill having do with more with the mind than the spiritual, so if it's purely psychology, then I wouldn't say it's sin.
2) If it tampers into the psychic, yes it is sin and it's not very widely accepted in psychology.
well im a very open minded person and i believe you should be able to do what ever you want as long as you don't hurt your self or others in the process: so no i don't see it as a sin and good luck in what ever you decide to do.
*facepalm*
if you believe in past lives you should try converting to Hinduism
