Psychic science, circa-1973 – 60 Minutes Overtime

From the archives: Psychic science, circa-1973 In a research laboratory in Brooklyn, sliced ping-pong balls are placed over a woman's eyes to fill her vision with opaque light. All she can hear is the sound of waves crashing against a shore. In the room next door, a man is suspended in a contraption called the Witch's Cradle. His eyes are covered and his earphones are playing constant static. These two are in sensory deprivation, preparing for an ESP experience– and Mike Wallace is there to see it. It's 1973 and this piece, titled "Psychic World," is a 60 Minutes story on the power of psychics and the scientific researchers who study them.
