It's easy to be cynical but do these people have access to the spirit world (and not the alcoholic kind)? My friend is going to pay 50 and I say she's wasting her money.

psychic always give responses that are quite ambiguous, so in the end, most of the stuff they said do come true, but it's so general that any1 could have said it.
I'll do it for 25!
It's not "real" as in any kind of psychic or spiritual anything.
But most of them are good at "reading people" — taking cues from facial expressions and body language, asking leading questions and guessing at answers, etc.So what they say might be factual, now and then, but it's not the product of magic.

Typically, the vast majority of Mediums and Psychics are Mentalists. Hyperobservant Con Artists who can tell everything about you with a glance.

Neither, in my opinion.Most self-proclaimed mediums sincerely believe in what they're doing, but are unaware that the "spirits" are coming from the collective imagination of people in the room.So I do believe it's "made up", but not consciously.
As for whether or not it's a waste of money, well I certainly wouldn't do it.But if two people sincerely believe that this service works, and one can offer it while another is willing to pay for it, then it's going to happen regardless.

It is an absolute waste of money – and these people are con men preying on the vulnerable.
They're just cold readers, who make very quick observations and turn those into "predictions" of the future.

satan/demons try this. satan/demons have been around since the beginning so they know much about family, friends and others. Psychics use demons to tell them things like this. A demon will tell them to tell you something like this: 'your mom will call you in two days'. And then to make this happen demons go to your mom's house in two days and whisper until she calls you. Demons just manipulated your mom to call you, but you think the psychic is something. Well they are evil and use evil to do and/or influence things to keep you from God.
Do not invite evil into your life or that of others.
Is it really a waste of money if she is merely entertaining herself?? Perhaps you could assist in making this NOT be a waste of money by suggesting that she refuses to ANSWER QUESTIONS that the "psychic" will toss at her, and to give no clues whatsoever…that way she can learn herself that these people are nothing more than really talented con artists…

Nobody can tell the future except God. People can dig up dirt about your past that you never thought they would know, and make it seem like since they know your past they must know your future. But in reality, they are making things up.

For instance, Acts 16:16-18 mentions a demon of divination that enabled a girl to practice the art of prediction. But she lost this ability when the demon was cast out of her.
12 Another way that the demons mislead people is by encouraging them to inquire of the dead. People grieving over the death of a loved one are often deceived by wrong ideas about those who have died. A spirit medium may give special information or may speak in a voice that seems to be that of a dead person. As a result, many people become convinced that the dead are really alive and that contacting them will help the living to endure their grief. But any such comfort is really false as well as dangerous. Why? Because the demons can imitate the voice of a dead person and give a spirit medium information about the one who died. (1 Samuel 28:3-19) Moreover, as we learned in Chapter 6, the dead have ceased to exist. (Psalm 115:17) So anyone who inquires of the dead has been misled by wicked spirits and is acting contrary to the will of God. (Deuteronomy 18:10, 11; Isaiah 8:19) Therefore, be careful to reject this dangerous bait used by the demons.
13 Wicked spirits not only mislead people but also frighten them. Today, Satan and his demons know that they have only a short period of time left before they are put out of action, and they are now more vicious than ever. (Revelation 12:12, 17)

Mediums are in the business of doing what's called a cold reading. They feed on the information that you can give them by asking very generalized questions. When they get a "hit". It is reinforced. It is a game where one is feeding off the other, and of course the person being read is susceptible to the reading for they are seeking answers.
There is no result is psychic readings that can't be reproduced statistically. This is not to say abadon all spirituality, simply abandon this form, as it is worthless.
There are genuine mediums out there but they do not ask for 50 pounds. Your friend is wasting her money and she will not get a proper service. Authentic mediums dont ask for such a large fee, most charge a much smaller amount or do the job for free, the ones that charge an excessive amount of money are fake.
I am a skeptic, I work in an industry where my job is to be skeptical.
My current best friend is a psychic which is not typical for me. What gives,' I asked myself.

What I noticed is that she always listens, has an extraordinary ability to pull information out of people, strong intuition, practical advice and she always watches people.
I saw a show on how psychics work with police. Psychics are given information and sort the facts in a different way, return it to the police – the cops still solve the crime.
As for predictions, anything can be interpreted the way a person wants to use it. People will remember what they want to and ignore the rest. There is a small percentage of predictions that come true in a period of time – coincidence?
Most of her clients just want to talk and have someone listen and she gives practical advice. I have never asked for a reading and she doesnt do friends or family. She is a very kind and generous person.
Many of them do truly believe what they are saying. And many just make **** up. They're all deluded charlatans either way.
